14/3/2026 (23:00 h) – La Federació Catalana de Korfbal comunica oficialment que ha pres la decisió de no viatjar al proper Campionat Europeu U19 previst per a disputar-se del 3 al 5 d’abril de 2026 a la ciutat turca de Kemer – Antalya. En el nostre comunicat anterior ja vam advertir que, si la situació no millorava, no participaríem en el torneig. Malauradament, la realitat és que la situació no només no ha millorat, sinó que en alguns aspectes fins i tot ha empitjorat, incrementant la incertesa sobre què pot passar.
En els darrers dies, el Ministeri d’Afers Exteriors ha actualitzat la llista de països on no és recomanable viatjar i ha inclòs Turquia entre les destinacions de risc. Aquesta actualització reforça la nostra preocupació i confirma que els riscos continuen sent massa elevats. Qualsevol percentatge de perill, per petit que sigui, és un risc que no estem disposats a assumir.
Cal recordar que alguns dels nostres jugadors i jugadores ja havien descartat viatjar davant la situació actual. Cal recordar que una part de l’equip és menor d’edat, i la preocupació de les famílies ha estat molt significativa en els darrers dies. Aquesta realitat també ha estat determinant a l’hora de prendre una decisió responsable i coherent amb els valors de la nostra federació.
La seguretat i el benestar dels nostres jugadors, jugadores i cos tècnic són la nostra prioritat absoluta, per sobre de qualsevol altre interès esportiu o institucional. Tampoc volem prolongar més aquesta incertesa per respecte al bon desenvolupament del torneig i a la nostra família del korfbal, que mereix claredat i responsabilitat per part nostra. Per aquest motiu, hem decidit comunicar la nostra renúncia de manera immediata.
Volem demanar disculpes a la IKF, al LOC i als equips participants pels inconvenients que aquesta decisió pugui generar. Confiem que la nostra posició serà compresa en el context actual i agraïm profundament el suport i la comprensió de tota la comunitat korfbalera.

Official Statement of the Catalan Korfball Federation
The Catalan Korfball Federation officially announces that it has decided not to travel to the U19 European Championship in Turkey. In our previous statement, we already warned that if the situation did not improve, we would not take part in the tournament. Unfortunately, the reality is that the situation has not only failed to improve, but in some aspects has even worsened, increasing the uncertainty about what might happen.
In recent days, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has updated the list of countries to which travel is not recommended and has included Turkey among the destinations considered to be at risk. This update reinforces our concerns and confirms that the risks remain too high. Any level of danger, no matter how small, is a risk we are not willing to take.
It should also be noted that some of our players had already decided not to travel given the current situation. It is important to remember that part of the team is underage, and the concern among families has been very significant in recent days. This reality has also been a determining factor in making a responsible decision consistent with the values of our federation.
The safety and well-being of our players and coaching staff are our absolute priority, above any other sporting or institutional interest. We also do not wish to prolong this uncertainty out of respect for the proper organization of the tournament and for our korfball family, who deserve clarity and responsibility from us. For this reason, we have decided to communicate our withdrawal immediately.
We would like to apologize to the IKF, the LOC, and the participating teams for any inconvenience this decision may cause. We trust that our position will be understood in the current context and we sincerely appreciate the support and understanding of the entire korfball community.
