La Federació Internacional de Korfbal ha donat a conèixer avui dia 3 de gener que la ciutat de Terrassa acollirà la IKF Korfball Champions League Satellite Final, a disputar-se els dies 27 i 28 de gener de 2023 al Pavelló Municipal de Sant Llorenç.
El CK Vallparadís serà l’amfitrió i un dels participants d’aquesta fase final, que competirà contra els següents campions nacionals de clubs europeus:
– CK Vallparadís, Catalunya
– Tornadoes KC, Anglaterra
– NC Benfica, Portugal
– 1908 SZAC Budapest, Hongria / KC Barcelona, Catalunya*
L’equip terrassenc, juntament amb la Federació Catalana de Korfbal (FCK) i la Federació Internacional de Korfbal (IKF) seran els organitzadors d’aquest esdeveniment, en col·laboració i amb el suport de l’Ajuntament de Terrassa.
Tots els partits es retransmetran en directe pel canal oficial de la IKF a Youtube (yotube.com/ikfchannel) i a la pàgina www.worldkorfball.sport, amb tots els resultats, classificacions, encistelladors i d’altres estadístiques.

*ACTUALITZACIÓ 16/1/2023: El KC Barcelona va ser convidat a participar a l’esdeveniment després de la retirada de darerra hora del 1908 SZAC Budapest. A causa del resultat del KC Barcelona a la IKF KCL R1, era primer reserva i per tant, havien estat cridats a substituir el campió hongarès.
*ACTUALITZACIÓ 24/1/2023: El Comitè Executiu de Competició de la IKF ha resolt, en una reunió extraordinària celebrada el passat dilluns 22/1, que el KC Barcelona malauradament haurà de participar en mode “out of competition”, per tal de garantir la transparència i el correcte i just compliment de la normativa de competició, així com respectar els criteris establerts per a la classificació dels equips participants en cadascuna de les rondes classificatòries. Tot i així, aquesta decisió podria reconsiderar-se en les pròximes hores per part de la IKF.

Update 26 January 2023 (11:30 am): Contrary to previous communication, KC Barcelona will not compete in the IKF Korfball Champions League Satellite Final. This is due to the decision of the IKF EXCO to only allow the participation of KC Barcelona out of competition, followed by the decision of KC Barcelona to withdraw. In the invitation process, the IKF made a mistake in the communication, for which the IKF apologizes. When KC Barcelona was invited to participate it should have been made clear from the beginning that this would be out of competition, but this was not stated.
The IKF EXCO decided that there should be no replacement teams in the IKF KCL Satellite Final as the competition model does not foresee any criteria for inviting substitution teams from the IKF KCL R1. Furthermore, the IKF EXCO argues it is not fair for the teams that qualified for the Satellite Final to play in an equal position against a team that did not qualify from Round 1 and did not take part in Round 2.
The IKF knows that this communication has caused a lot of inconvenience, but in light of fairness and transparency, the IKF EXCO will not revoke the decision taken, as described above.
Therefore, the competition will continue with the three qualified teams playing a round-robin, according to the match schedule as published on the event page.
